Rain At East Putney
Metallic drops sleet onto slate tiles
Heavy pendulous January skies
London\'s suburb at its most droll
An abundance of chimneys and rooftops
Form a pattern like a pre-falling domino rally.
An abyss of grey
Train doors close
We slide off into the gloom
A white glow worm
Snaking into the evening
I shiver, pull my collar up
And lose myself in the thought of drink and bustle
Of a city pub.
