Great modest Caribou plodding stealthily
through grassy Tundra landscape
Brittle antlers, two large trees
King of the Tundra with golden crowns
A mound of earth with two ponds
Smooth soft silky fur, fresh moss
Wide camera lenses searching danger
Ears pricked dark shadows rising
Slowly silently the red fiery sun fades like glinting angry eyes
Caribou stumbles, his weary wobbly legs halt
Dark blue wisps of cloud float swiftly over the horizon
Like huge chunks of black ice
Night has fallen, gleaming, glistening, glittering stars twinkle
Caribou sleeps whilst greedy gruesome Wolverine stalks prey.
Caribou

This is really where it all began following a project on the poet Ted Hughes....my introduction to simile, metaphor, and alliteration.
